Caring For One Another

Zaag’idiwin Ngodoodegizwin Dibendaagziwin Naakningewin is dedicated to the wellbeing of Saugeen First Nation children and families. As Anishinaabe people it is our collective responsibility to care for one another.

Rights Of Anishinaabe Children

  • 1 The right to identify, Anishinaabewin, to know their spirit name within the context of their heritage and culture.
  • 2 The right to know and speak their language, Anishinaabemowin.
  • 3 To be safe and cared for physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by their family, extended family, and First Nation community.
  • 4 To be heard and believed by others who honour their culture, heritage, and language.
  • 5 To equal and fair treatment regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, language, abilities, or family relations.
  • 6 To have access to and utilize support programs.
  • 7 To be safe and feel safe, whether inside or outside their communities.
  • 8 To adequate health care, education, protection, and shelter.
  • 9 To live free of abuse and to be their authentic self in mind and spirit.
  • 10 To play, to relax, to be respected, and to be happy.
  • 11 To safeguard their voice, to be heard, and to be properly represented in decisions affecting their future.
